Watchout Space Needle!
Last week it was reported that the Seattle Space Needle had a drone strike - not overly surprising given there have been multiple drone hits over the last year - the bigger issue is the fact that there was a team setting up fireworks at the time. Note a drone can be dangerous just by hitting you - the FAA and Universities have done testing with cadavers and small drone strikes which could actually kill a person if hitting you in the chest, but imagine a errant drone somehow hitting the pyrotechnics and accidently setting them off with workers on deck. I don't know about you, but that makes me nervous. The FAA and Government needs to continue the education programs, but need to start thinking about adding digital license plates and in real-time contacting pilots/operators/programmers. Drones will do great good, but we need to be smart and work to keep folks from making poor decisions.
